This isn’t an arts and entertainment bulletin, but is information about an important research project being done.
We are contacting you to inform you of an upcoming study that may be of interest to you. In this study we are interested in learning about the experiences of healthcare in Winnipeg for those who identify as a lesbian, or who has identified as a lesbian in the past.
If you would like to share your experiences related to the health care you received in the past or currently, we would like to talk to you.
This study is being conducted by Dr. Deborah McPhail, Community Health Sciences, University of Manitoba and the Rainbow Resource Centre.
If you volunteer for this study, you will be asked to participate in a focus group that is expected to take 1-2 hours. Participation is voluntary and this will not negatively affect your future health care. The information that you provide to us based on your experiences will be used to inform health care practice in the area of LGBTQ health. Participants will be provided with snacks at the focus group. Childcare will be provided.
If you have questions regarding this study or you would like to volunteer to participate in this study please contact Claudyne Chevrier at 204-930-6444 or by email at email@example.com.
Quite a few new people are signing up for L*ACE info. Welcome! If you’re interested in attending a dinner ‘meet and greet’ on Friday, May 9 please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll figure out a good location for the number of people that sign up.
L*ACE is a casual gathering of lesbians (LBT) who get together from time to time for dinner, arts and cultural entertainment events. The information is cross-posted through Rainbow Resource Centre, Society of Out-Standing Artists, and another general email listserv for Winnipeg lesbians.
A note on privacy: the names of people following the listserv are known only to the site administrator or if you post a comment on one of the posts. Once an event is being arranged, the people interested in attending will get a group email so there are no surprises on the day of the event.
Finally, if you know of artsy and entertaining things of interest to our community going on, please send us the information! We’re happy to pass it on along the grapevine.
Coming soon: info on May and June events, including Pride events.
This may or may not be artsy, but it’ll definitely be entertainment!
At noon on Saturday, May 3rd there will be a gathering of womyn in the pub at the Norwood Hotel. As the organizer, Kelly Dyck, says: “Come on down for some good food, friends, drinks…..perhaps it will be nicer weather by then! Bring friends. The more the merrier.”

Süss’s Album release party , Myths On My Body, at the Gas Station Art Centre, 445 River Ave.
Süss weaves together stories pulling on the body, from polyamorous confession to a rural dreaming cactus to a mini-me version of a mythical deep sea creature parasitically living in a broken-hearted chest cavity.
Playing fingerpicking style on an acoustic guitar, Süss plays with some of Winnipeg’s finest musicians and singers. Süss presents the stories in full concert mode with special opening act, The Eagle Lake Owls.
Tickets $17 in advance at Into The Music, the U of W info booth. $20 at the door.
