Gallery 1C03 at The University of Winnipeg opens its fall season with programs organized in honour of the 30th anniversary of Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art, and as part of UWinnipeg’s Artsfest

Willow Rector: TRAPPED

Opening reception: Thursday, September 11, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Gallery 1C03
Featuring remarks by The University of Winnipeg Vice-President Academic & Provost and Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Also, artist talk: Friday, September 26 at 12:30 p.m. in Room 2M70 (2nd floor of Manitoba Hall) at The University of Winnipeg. Co-sponsored by The University of Winnipeg Alumni Affairs Office and Manitoba Craft Council.

TRAPPED features textile embroideries and sculptures drawn from two new bodies of work by visual artist Willow Rector that explore the complex question of identity as it is rooted in our experiences of sexuality, desire, the topography of home, and the cultural narratives of our national identities.

In conjunction with Willow Rector’s TRAPPED exhibition, Gallery 1C03 presents two pieces from Diana Thorneycroft’s Canadians and Americans (best friends forever…it’s complicated) series

Regular Gallery 1C03 hours: Monday – Friday: 12:00 – 4:00 p.m., Saturday: 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Closed Sundays and Thanksgiving Day.

Gallery 1C03 hours during Artsfest & Culture Days: September 25 – 26: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., September 27 – 28: 10:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.

Admission is always free and everyone is welcome. Wheelchair accessible.
