All coffee/chat events will be held in The Qube, so please use the parking lot entrance to access the space. (If you’re not familiar with the layout of the building, we will have a sign on the front door to direct you to the appropriate entrance.)

Carol (Movie)

Last minute decision!

If you want to see Carol with a few other gals, come to Cineplex Odeon McGillivray Cinemas 2190 McGillivray Boulevard by 9:40 p.m. for the 9:55 p.m. showing on Wednesday (tomorrow). There are no weekend showings.

You can just show up or email praxis2121@gmail.com.

Overview

In 1952, Carol Aird (Cate Blanchett) is shopping at a New York department store for a Christmas present for her seven-year-old daughter. She’s helped by young clerk Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara). They develop a relationship, which leads to a romantic affair.

Meanwhile, Carol’s husband Harge (Kyle Chandler) desperately tries to save their marriage, even though he knows his wife’s attraction to women, while Richard (Jake Lacy) hopes Therese will agree to marry him, despite her indifference towards spending her life with him.

Based on the 1952 romance novel by Patricia Highsmith, “The Price of Salt,” written under the pseudonym Claire Morgan.

Membership Details

No membership in OutThere Skiing is needed for the Windsor Park trails, because insurance is included in the Nordic Centre’s trail fees. However, for out-of-town ski trips with the group (marked with a **), membership in OutThere Skiing  –  which covers accident insurance – is required (see below). You can register online at: https://zone4.ca/regc.asp?id=9929&lan=1&cartlevel=1. It takes a bit of patience to get through the site, but you only need to do it once.
