Rainbow Harmony Project Spring Concert 2015

Music Down in my Soul

Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 8:00 PM

Crescent Fort Rouge United Church at 525 Wardlaw Avenue, Winnipeg, MB

With drama queens and log-drivin’ women, there’s a song to fill everyone’s soul!

“We have a diverse range of choral pieces selected that allows us to really show our range and capabilities as a choir,” says artistic director Johanna Hildebrand. “ We’ll be performing everything from classical, to Diana Ross, to French, and folk pieces ”

The concert will feature smaller groups of choir members, including Lesbian Potluck and Crockpot Crooners along with a backup band made up of our favourite musicians. “It’s going to be a fun, uplifting evening and we invite anyone who enjoys listening to choral music to come out,” says Hildebrand.

Research Project

A researcher from the University of Manitoba is conducting a study called “Safe and Inclusive Housing for LGBT Older Adults,” and is looking for participants for her project.

Here is the information on the project:

The purpose of this study is to understand the experiences of LGBT* older adults living in congregate housing spaces by identifying barriers to feeling safe and included in those spaces, and also to identify what is currently being done that helps older LGBT* feel safe and included in those spaces.

I am currently seeking participants to take part in a research project about the housing experiences of older LGBT* adults. By participating in the project you can provide valuable insight into what the experience of living in congregate housing spaces is like for older LGBT* adults and contribute to raising awareness among community organizations and policy makers:

To be eligible participants should:
Over the age of 55;
Self-identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirit, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Genderqueer, Gender Nonconforming, or otherwise as non-heterosexual;
Live in congregate housing such as a 55+ housing, or other housing units with a shared communal space;
Speak English;
Able to use a camera or some kind of device that can take photographs;
Able to attend a training session, an interview, and a focus group;
Live in Winnipeg.
